Gina Weddle
Gina Weddle (she/her) E-RRYT 500, is celebrated for her light-hearted, clear and integrative approach to teaching, Gina specializes in reaching beginners, helping those coming back from injury or anyone seeking to improve their fitness. Her authentic and thoughtful presence reflects her 25 years of teaching movement.
As a young teenager in Iowa, Gina was teaching, assisting and studying dance five days a week. She began learning yoga at home from a VHS tape of Erich Shiffman’s “Yoga Mind & Body." Although the practices seemed extremely challenging and beautiful, it drew her to learn more about Hatha Yoga’s practice and lineage.
The summer before starting at Temple University’s Dance Department, Gina herniated her back. This continued challenge ultimately caused her to pivot her focus from dance performance to choreography and teaching/pedagogy after graduation with her BFA in Dance. While studying abroad in London, at LABAN Dance Conservatoire (now Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance), Gina obtained her Post Graduate Diploma in Dance Studies, were she was also a Graduate Assistant and later taught Dance as secondary school teacher outside of London. Throughout her time in university, Gina consistently trained in yoga and pilates to strengthen her way out of her back injury. This healing experience are what ultimately sparked her desire to one day become certified yoga or pilates.
First certified in yoga in 2007, her teaching has taken her to Belgium, England, Wales, Guatemala and many parts of the US. Gina has taught yoga as adjunct faculty professor at her alma mater Temple University, foreign language camps, teacher trainings, mentored yoga teachers, led therapeutic and beginner’s series and workshops, as well as taught public and private lessons for over 15 years.
Along with recent experiences adjusting to hip labral tears and arthritis of knees, and hips, Gina’s personal fitness practice has changed to support her body in this life cycle. Her teaching scope has broadened in the areas of mindful meditation, pilates, resistance training, as well as restorative and accessible yoga through the life cycle.
When not teaching or practicing, you can find Gina with her hands in the dirt gardening, rocking climbing, spending time with her husband and daughter or her nose in a digital book.
"I had limited range of motion in my right shoulder, wrist and ankle, with minor but chronic neck pain. Gina is able to communicate the subtle yet critical movements, and after working one-on-one, we were able to coax my chronic problems along to the point where they have almost disappeared."
